Sri Lanka Won Asia Cup 2008 beaten India by 100 runs

Sri Lanka win by 100 runs and lift the Asia Cup

From 1999 India REACHED 22 FINALS but Won only 2 and loss 18 with draw 2.

Is Dhoni BADLUCK in 2008 not winning one final at Kipty Cup lose to Pak, IPL lose to Rajastan Team and Now here lose to Srilanka.

Is Yovraj going out from ODI lets BCCI decide? but i think he is not fit for ODI.

Sri Lanka have won the Asia Cup here and done so pretty convincingly. It was a day that will be remembered for Jayasuriya and Mendis. While the former played a stunning knock which allowed Sri Lanka to get to a good total, the latter ripped through the Indian batting and ensured that they do not build on the superb start that Virender Sehwag had given them. India somehow have not been able to break the final jinx and they will look to find ways to winning final matches now. Srilanka Won total 4 Asia Cup's including this.

Man of the Series: Ajantha Mendis (17Wkts)

    Sri Lanka : 273 (49.5 Ovs) & India: 173-all out (39.3 Ovs)

Man of the Match, Ajantha Mendis: "It is my first big tournament and he enjoyed the experience. I didn't think too much bowling to these big batsmen, just tried to hit the good areas." Since Mendis doesn't understand much of English, Jayawardene helps by becoming the translator.

Sanath Jayasuriya wins the batsman of the match award.

India Innings : Virender Sehwag 60 runs (36 balls), Mahendra Singh Dhoni 49, Robin Uthappa 20, Suresh Raina 16 & Rudra Pratap Singh 3wkts, Ishant Sharma 3 wkts, Irfan Pathan 2 wkts & Virender Sehwag 1 wkts.

Sri Lanka Innings : Sanath Jayasuriya 125 runs, Tillakaratne Dilshan 56, Nuwan Kulasekara 29* & Ajantha Mendis 6 wkts (MOM & MOS), Chaminda Vaas 2 wkts, Thilan Thushara & Muttiah Muralitharan one wkt each.

Ajantha Mendis is also the Player of the tournament for picking up 17 wickets in a tournament dominated by flat tracks.

    AT PRESENTATION:

Mahela Jayawardene: "I thought Sanath made a lot of difference in today's game and of course the way Mendis bowled. But this tournament was superb as all of the senior pros chipped in with some contribution. Jayasuriya, Sangakkara, Vaasy all came in at some time or the other. We are looking forward to meeting India at home now."

Mahendra Singh Dhoni: "Frankly speaking none of the batsmen picked him (Mendis). I think Virender Sehwag was fantastic but Mendis was outstanding as well. It was just his day and he made life miserable for India. I think most of the batsmen batted well in the series but the conditions were helpful, hopefully when we come back for the Champions Trophy, the tracks are more even."

They have a good break now before playing Sri Lanka. We will be back with all the action from that tour. Till then it is good bye and good night from all of us...
