Australian Geoff Lawson can face further trouble and be asked to step down as coach if Pakistan fail to reach the final of the ongoing six-nation Asia Cup cricket.According to the Karachi-based leading daily 'The News', sources in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informed that the top board officials have taken a serious note of Lawson's misconduct at the press conference after Pakistan's second consecutive crushing defeat -- at the hands of Sri Lanka -- Sunday night. Pakistan were earlier defeated by India in their league match and are now facing elimination from the tournament.Lawson will be facing the axe after the Asia Cup if his team fails to make it to the July 6 final, according to the source. Pakistan have to win both their remaining games - against India and Bangladesh - and then hope that Sri Lanka beat India to have any chance of making to the final.The National Stadium here echoed with slogans of "sack Lawson" and "PCB apologise" Monday evening as dozens of local journalists gathered to protest against Lawson's rude attitude at a press conference. The protest was staged at the innings break during the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and was held even after Lawson apologised for the incident in a PCB statement. "What happened was regrettable and I would like to apologise for the events that led to the incident," Lawson said.Lawson began his stint as Pakistan coach on the wrong foot last summer with a fractious press conference after his team was thrashed in a Test match here by South Africa.
